Seven contestants vied for the coveted Ms. World Leather title on the weekend of August 8th through 10th: Millarca, Dutchess Roscoe, Ms. Julia, Goddess Lakshimi, Ms Elise, slavette, and Pat Tucker. This year’s contest had a very interesting twist to it as the board of the Ms. World Leather Contest signed a contract with MTV for a new documentary pilot that will air on VH-1. The show will be called “Eyes on the Prize”.

My sources have told me that, once again, the crossfire section of the contest was one of the most exciting portions of the contest. However, it seems that there were some contestants whose platform were still too “provincial”. For those of you who are planning to compete in the Ms. World Leather Contest, I would recommend that you focus your platform on a more global aspect as opposed to focusing on your local communities.

While Jules entertained the crowed, the scores were tallied. When the dust settled, Millarca was named first runner-up and Goddess Lakshimi from Detroit Michigan was named Ms. World Leather 2003. Lakshimi’s platform is breast cancer “Get the 411”. I’m sure that you will see her out and about very soon.

Several major announcements were also made during this event. Jill Carter (the president of Ms. World Leather) is stepping down and will become the contest’s executive director and Annie Romano-Blas, MsWL 2001 will succeed her. The next major announcement was that the International Deaf Leather Contest will be joining forces with the Ms. World Leather event in 2004!
